Design

In 2025, your mobile phone is now much more than just a communication device. It’s more of a remote control for your life. We will still be able to call it a “mobile“  but we all know now that it’s more of an organiser, entertainment device all developed and manufactured by engineers. Ten years ago, the mobile was just for making voice calls and now it’s much more than that. It is now a camera, MP3 player and texting device.

What will the mobile phones look like in 2025?

There are several designs on what the future mobile phone could look like in 10 years. “The future of mobile will largely be defined by the small, creative entrepreneurs and companies that leverage the device capabilities in new and interesting ways” (B.Borchers) He also said, “The mobile future of money, health, information gathering will come from brands that we yet to discover or create for future of 2025.”

Floating Displays

One of the designs that the mobile phone could have is a floating display. Floating displays will burst out of our mobile devices. A 3D screen that will be popping up in thin air will be all that we see. Technology would be to the point where we’re fully interactive with the floating screen. We would be able to watch all sports play out in front of us, play games in a whole new way. I believe that touchscreen will still be the main user interface for smartphones. Your phone will be able to show your project anywhere and no need a USB or a bunch of other things.

Flexible Smartphone Designs
Smartphones will stay around the 3.7-inch to 4.3-inch display size. They might become thinner and lighter, but the market won’t see microscopic phones. “Displays won’t grow any larger than 4.3 inches. After all, who wants to have a tablet in their pockets? “ (Llamas, 2014)

What else?

Transparent Screen
How cool would it be if your future mobile could also be transparent, be also light weight and that will meet all of your requirements to fulfill all your necessities?  In 2025 build in sensors like GPS, temperature, humidity, light or compass-chips could also be a part of the 2025 design of mobile phones. The last 10- 15 years was manly about providing access to voice communications but for the next 10 years, we will be seeing a rapid growth.

The Future of Smartphones!

This video is a little long since it’s almost 13 minutes but it does have great ideas. From the beginning of the video until 3:35 it focuses more on the form of what the phone would look like in the future and within the 3 minutes, he talks about the basics of the form such as curving of the screen, touching of the screen, and front face speakers. But there’s one thing that I noticed while watching this video and that is Greed. These technologies are going to keep getting better and better and they might seem amazing because of these new chances but since the manufactures and these developers are greedy now days, we will probably never see the light of day. Just like IPhones for an example. Every year, the new IPhone comes out with new designs and these new features but all the developers and manufactures has to do is change the phone up a little with the design and everyone will want it. Overall, I think this video covers a lot of aspects relating to the design of the mobile phones in the next 10 years.

Of course we have no idea on what cell phones would exactly look like in the future but just by looking at today’s trends, it could give us a pretty good idea on what it could end up looking like 5, 10 years from now. We won’t be satisfied with the phones in the future and we will probably just complain about them because we will always want more, more and more. There are people now that complain about not having enough battery life. By 2020, phones will have the same size of battery that lasts for a day of use in 2014; we can expect that smartphones will last for a week without charging by 2020. It is likely 2025 will be a great deal of advanced technology.
